Everyone wants a flat, even, firm stomach, but few succeed.
Pregnancies, weight gain and weight loss can leave a woman's belly stretched, scarred, loose and out of shape. Many men also suffer with unsightly fat around the stomach and waist. In either case, even a strenuous exercise program may not solve the problem. But, there is a solution. Body contouring is the surgical alteration of the body's shape or form. Several procedures allow us to improve body contour and give our patient's excellent results. If you have lost a lot of weight, you may have excess skin on your abdomen. Abdominal Skin Tucking techniques can be used to remove excess skin and to smooth your stomach. Abdominoplasty, more commonly known as a Tummy Tuck, removes excess skin and fat from the abdominal area. The procedure can also address problems with the underlying musculature to give you a flatter, firmer, tighter stomach and thinner waist as well. A full Tummy Tuck is reserved for patients who are no longer child bearing. A patient may have good abdominal musculature even with a history of having had children. In this case, tightening of just the abdominal skin may be all that is necessary. Some patients may only be concerned with the lower abdomen. In these cases, a 'mini' tuck is perfect. Finally, there are some patients (male and female) who only want the fat removed. In this situation, simple liposuction will serve the patient very well. |
