Rhinoplasty, or nasal surgery, can reduce the overall size, improve
the tip, remove a bump, narrow or widen the width, or even improve the angle between the nose and the upper lip. The idea is not to create a new nose, but rather to improve and enhance the one you have. Your final result will be a permanent improvement which will last the rest of your life. The key is to create harmony and balance on your face so that naturalness is evident. This surgery is almost always performed in the hospital with the patient asleep. Complications are rare. The convalescence includes some discomfort and nasal drainage for about one week. The 'major' swelling and bruising is gone in approximately 2 weeks. Most patients return to work in about 10 days to 2 weeks. Individual sports are allowed by 2-3 weeks and full activity by 6 weeks. If only the tip of the nose requires work, the convalescence is much quicker. The goal of Rhinoplasty is to create artistic balance and harmony of the face. The best nose is one that nobody knows has been done. The patient looks good with eyes appearing larger, nose in balance with the rest of the face, and the smile appearing soft and natural. As you can see in the accompanying photos, a small change in the shape of a nose can result in a big change in the appearance of the whole face. |
